Arnold Laver Workshops Raise £1,960 For Housing Charity Shelter

Arnold Laver has raised £1,960 for housing charity, Shelter.

After moving its Fire Door Safety Week events online due to COVID-19, the company pledged to donate £10 for every webinar attendee. 196 delegates participated in the workshops, which highlighted the critical role fire doors play in protecting property, raising £1,960.

The money will help Shelter support people facing homelessness by providing expert advice and legal aid. Its services are required more than ever as a result of the pandemic, which has forced even more people onto the streets.

David Oldfield, Director of Joinery at Arnold Laver and Chairman of the Fire Door Alliance Scheme, said: “We’re delighted that the webinars were a success, which was great for the fire door industry, but also for our chosen charity, Shelter. It does some amazing work and changes thousands of lives every year. There’s been a huge drop off in charity donations as a result of Coronavirus and we’ll be looking for more opportunities to support important causes.

Delivered by leading bodies and suppliers including Arnold Laver, Lorient, dormakaba, Pyroguard, and Fire Door Inspect, the Fire Door Safety events were CPD accredited and free to join. They covered compliance, certifications, design, specification, procurement, liability, and much more.

Intelligent Door Solutions, a specialist division of Arnold Laver, is the UK’s leading doorset manufacturer with three manufacturing facilities located across the country.

Launched in 2013 in response to a legacy of fire door neglect, Fire Door Safety Week is a ‘mass market’ awareness campaign to increase public understanding of the vital role that fire doors play in protecting life and property. The campaign is supported by a number of partners, including the Home Office’s National Fire Safety campaign, the National Fire Chief’s Council and London Fire Brigade.
